I also run both HF and VHF APRS; only have HF running when on long trips or testing before big
trips. Being a ex-military moron, track correlation is priority 1 (especially when most who are
following our progress are not so APRS savvy), so I use the same SSID in both trackers (VK1IAN-9).
This way only one "unit" appears, regardless of the means. Those that want to know the exact means,
"know" APRS so they look at the path.
For HF, I use a Wagner 1729 that used to belong to NSW SES, with an OpenTrackerII buried inside. It
was modified to operate on 30m by changing a crystal. A mate calculated the one needed however when
Hy Q was contacted, they already knew which one was required!!!
