Hi all,
Further to my note I was wondering why Josh was not hearing many packets... I checked my h/h and sure enough could see all of VK3 Being gated. Today in cleaning up the back yard, I found not only 3 bags of chewed items, but my sons new pup had chewed through the aprs co- ax.
Luckily the transceiver is still ok, now it should be working a lot better, Josh I hope you see more traffic now, let me know.
BTW I see the Geelong digi now.
Thanks for the focus and making me check things out
Kind Regards
Pete

It used to run hot, and was fine as I was the only digi/igate but I know if there was a second digi, I would have to cut the data down or the channel would never be clear for a mobile station.

I'm located in the outer south-western suburbs, and with the antenna I'm planning on building (stacked J Pole) I should be able to receive from Geelong to the CBD, and right up to Bacchus Marsh/Melton area. I don't have APRS TX capability in the car (yet - waiting on a GPS) but sitting at home at night at my QTH reveals MUCH more activity than the current IGates are reporting.

What is the legality of this station running unattended? Do I need to put in some sort of override switch to kill it if it gets stuck in tx?
