I used to sit here in Canberra and watch them go by.  Was one summer where it wasn't unusal to have a keyboard conversation via 6 digis to Mt Gambier from Canberra.  Then Rose came along with its 2 digi restriction and stopped it all.

I used to run a BBS as well, forwarding via 2 digis to Orange up north and Wangeratta down south.  Then for a year or so Peter, vk3ehq and Peter, vk3ave would drop bulletins onto my box (thanks guys!) via dialup modem and fidonet and I'd push them out north and south.

Was a lot of fun...
