[OZAPRS] javAPRSSrvr UDP Port 1315

What does anyone know about javAPRSSrvr UDP Client Port number 1315? 
What is this port used for?

If I were to send some occasional APRS data to it, would it display the 
data on sites like APRS.fi??? Or, even though this is UDP, (one way 
traffic?) would it still somehow require a callsign/password check? If 
it require no callsign/password check, would the port still be required 
to be opened in advance??? Or is it always open for APRS or some other 
traffic?
