G'day Geoff,
Thanks for your reply. Makes sense now.

I was using Voice Alert (on the A-side) which on the 710 automatically 
includes the frequency of the B-side VFO/Memory channel for voice 
communication.

I heard a few stations breaking through the squelch, and I think I heard 
your station as well once of twice. Was driving from Sydney to home QTH.

I get then a choice to press  "Tune" and that apparantly sets my B-side 
automatically to the frequency the other station is listening on. Haven't 
seen it working yet but will have to try some more.

Would love to talk to someone with similar set and run some tests to 
actually see some of the features working.

Do you know someone around here with a 710?
