Given the ridiculous IO overhead of javaprsd, I'd probably suggest using
normal aprsd, unless you need the in-built filter ports, etc..  If
you're on debian, hamish has it in stable, so it's a simple apt-get
install aprsd :)

javaprsrvr would probably be the best, Xastir would be fine if you want
a visual interace plus mapping..or maybe the modified aprsd from the vk5
aprs website?
