[OZAPRS] Issues in SEQ

Hi all,
I apologise for the SEQ issues spilling over onto the national APRS
mailing
list once again.

>From most operators perspective, VK4OG-1 is _not_ causing the problems as
advertised on this list.

In fact since we have enabled this very well located station as the
primary
rx/tx Igate for SEQ we have noticed that all digi's can be heard directly
by
VK4OG-1. This has to be a good thing for APRS ops in SEQ.

So now the plan to is continue upgrading the digi's in SEQ to the newer
UIDigi firmware, tune the slot times and persistance settings, ensure the
dupe checking is configured and we should be fine. All things going well,
stations will be re-transmitted via RF, via VK4OG-1, with no more than one
digi hop. Upgrading the digis may take some time as some of these digis
are
located some distance away, and as this is a _hobby_, it takes second
precedence to work, which helps pay for the hobby.

Noted there is much tuning to do, we are all learning by doing.

I would very much like to hear from any mobile operators in SEQ who think
their VHF mobile station are not getting into the APRS IS.

Again, the vk4aprs Yahoo discussion group was created for this very
purpose,
all constructive, positive, encouraging, supportive, non-emotive comment
and
suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,
Peter Schrader,
VK4TGV
