I stand corrected.

See you read part of a spec and it bites you.

Ok If Tony sees it and Brian does not, and Brians packet is ok, 
what setting in UI-View is doing it ?

The "G" character is valid and is the Overlay
Character.

*or* an overlay character for those symbols that
allow it.  Such symbols are the GATE symbol.  But
overlaying G is kind of meaningless.  The preferred
overlay is "H" for HF, "I" for Igates, "S" for satellites
gates, etc...
