Hi,

I have updated the VK3 APRS Path and transmission guide to reflect the
expanding digipeater network in VK3. As our RF network expands more RF
traffic is inherently generated. This means all VK3 APRS operators need to
be more responsible with the way they configure their APRS mobile and
fixed
stations.

Transmission times and APRS paths have the greatest impact on RF traffic
levels. Keep your path as short as possible, 3 Digipeater hops Maximum.
Your
transmission times should be set to the table below;

2 or 3 minutes for Mobile Units (Depending on speed).
15 minutes for Weather Stations.
30 minutes for Home Stations.
30 minutes for Objects.
30 minutes for Digipeaters

If you are running UI-View without a weather station you should have the
Compressed Beacon box crossed in Station Set-up. You also need to keep
your
Beacon Comments and Status Text as short as possible.

For more details on how you can help with RF traffic levels see
http://vk3.aprs.net.au/path.shtml

I wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year.

Cheers
Richard
