Thanks for that, I'm pretty flexible as far as hardware is concerned. I'll do some research into both options Pi and Tiny trak.

It's a good point - for TX only, I would still go a TinyTrak... even
    though I'm a great fan of Raspberry Pi's.

Don't waste money on a hardware TNC, especially for TX only.
