The reason why I am going to call them 2 different host names is as far as I
know it is due to uiview32 doesn't support ipv6.
But I do understand why you said the AAAA record and the uiview32 reason is
why I left it out.,
However saying this has anyone connected to a ipv6 server using ipv6?

If so please share the connect string as a [xxxx:xxxx::xxxx]:port doesn't
work

Sam

IP resolves to vk4ttt.aprs.id.au aslo it has a IPV6 address
2001:470:e949:0:20c:29ff:fe64:7b81
I do believe that this is the first APRS server to have a ipv6 in the land
down under.

Worth getting a provider that can give you native IPv6 as opposed to a HE
tunnel?

There is no AAAA record for vk4ttt.aprs.id.au, probably want to add that if
you want people to use it over ipv6 :-)

Also 14501 on ipv6 just closes the connection, 14580 works just fine.

Finally worth reading http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4890.txt around section 4.4
to ensure your desire to drop ICMP doesn't break anything like PMTU with
ICMPv6 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICMPv6

Cheers,

JB
