[OZAPRS] Igate to RF

Richard,

My aim was to see more use of the national freq for people on road trips outside their local area, the secondary freq for use by people local to a single digipeater, in a local area combined with a local Igate.
Try using one of the newer APRS HTs on the national frequency, you will see what I mean.
In some places no problems, in others with higher traffic loads it's difficult.
Our user base is changing over time, we need to recognize that changes may need to be made. Me seeing a fill in digi beacon from over 600km away, sent to RF via our local Igate is NOT prudent. Many Qld digis are solar powered. Yes, every area has differing requirements and I put up my idea for a secondary freq for local use only and with lighter traffic loads make it easier for low powered APRS stations to get access. The secondary freq Igate can RF gate messaging capable radios within a reasonable radius of the local area. This would probably make messaging more reliable, too.
I don't want this to become a blowtorch subject, but It would be great for many people to discuss and add good ideas. Ultimately, we all end up with solutions that will suit our respective geographical areas.

Jack. VK4JRC
