Hi Tony
Yes I have been watching with interest the development of both APRS messenger and also APRSIS-32 and have been playing with both. I have cross posted a message from the APRS messenger sig which explains my current testing. Yes I also have been concerned about the potential conflict with our standard 30m APRS freq if the recommendations from the US become established. Another concern was a recommendation I saw fairly recently to use 7070 on 40m - which of course is the 40m mobile call freq here in OZ!
At this stage it is interesting to see the development of new modes on HF - at least the developers are trying innovative ideas. I subscribe to both sigs to keep abreast of developments.

Hi Gerard et al
Yes I gave the GMSK-250 a try yesterday and I did manage to gate your beacon while trying to net on the frequency. I am just running a IC718 into a 160m dipole through a tuner in the test configuration to see how it goes. I also run a 24/7 vhf/hf (40m & 30M) Igate (vk5ly-4) on standard APRS packet which has been on air for quite a few years now.
I will leave it running today (Sunday) and see if it hears you again.
Cheers

Hi all,
After me beaconing all day I didn't achieve an aweful lot but I learned something and that is that we have an IGATE in South Australia which Igated my beacon.
Here it is:
VK5LY-63 2 2010-08-28 04:18:24 2010-08-28 05:30:24 QG42WQ > QF05IU 1155.3 km 227° 2010-08-28 05:30:24
The above happened on 14.103.00 LSB with a tone of 1300Hz.
So I am gonna try a few more days to beacon away every 10mins and see what else might happen.
If anyone hears me and I can't hear you (I am portable) then I would love to hear from you.
Cheers,
Gerard
