Chris,

Take a look at http://www.aprs.net.au, under the relevant area that you are
operating in (HF or VHF).
The paths for each mode are listed there, but generally speaking, if you are
a FIXED station,

VHF =  WIDE2-1
HF = GATE,WIDE2-1 (although if you are fixed station on HF you'd probably
need to re-think this - HF is usually only used by mobiles)

Beacon interval is also an important factor - if you are a FIXED station,
make sure you beacon no more than once every 20 minutes.

Regards,

Subject: [OZAPRS] Nubie

Hi Guys

I have a fixed APRS station and have loaded in a fixed position into the
system.

I have just connected a GPS to the system and want to know a few things
before I allow this system to beacon.

The system is Garmin GPS 60
TNC is a Kenwood RC-710.
RF is IC706.

Call sign is VK3TCH-5

So I want to know what settings to load into the kenwood to avoid over
beaconing my position and thus earning the wrath of the learned
gentlemen that keep the system working.

Any guidance gratefully recieved.
