David..  Just to get things going with your MAC etc use 30m as a reference
on RX and then QSY to 20m when you have it going.. Getting RX going is
usually the bigest hassle unless you have RF feedback problems etc..

Another idea which I have used in thre past is to get an old Laptop running
Win98 or ME and use the soundcard and serial port on that as a modem. Use
MixW or similar soundcard software and pipe it out in KISS mode via the
laptop serial port..
Ive got a old version of MixW which works well on 98 and ME if you have a
rego for MixW.

Then any APRS programe Ui-View MAC APRS or Xastir can treat the Laptop like
a KISS modem. Its pretty ultimate really because your running a DSP modem.
Possibly cheaper than a SCS DSP machine.
