Hi Tony,

Thanks for your feedback, though I think Warren identified the extra  
character (05 hex, though aprsi.fi showed it as a space) preceding the  
"=" in the position beacon as the culprit.

I'm still mystified as to how it got there - I think may old laptop is  
playing up, as my new laptop worked, but I need to check that the  
settings are identical on both.

 From the new laptop (uncompressed to APRS..., uncompressed to  
GPSMV..., and compressed to GPSMV... respectively):
