I asked the same q's a few years back and hence did similar things. It
is
part of the learning process and as long as suggestions are made nicely I
think changes can be made where needed.
I operate VK4VP Igate which I set up a few years back so I could track
myself, since then VK4RX-3 and VK4OG-1 has come on the scene.
On Saturday I trialled a TNC and radio that we, the Sunshine Coast Amateur
Radio Club, are intending to install at our Noosa Heads repeater site. It
is VK4RSL-3 and I believe the UI Digi firmware has been set up by the
Amateur that has set up a lot of the Blackdown Tablelands, Rocky and
Gladstone digis. The settings look correct to me but only based on my
short
time experience
There are some good guidelines on APRS and tracker set ups by VK3
http://vk3.aprs.net.au/index.html
So yes there is a right way to do things but without co-ordination, the
only
way is to be politely told if we are doing something wrong and hope that
the
user/owner is on this list.
Regards,
Gordon Taylor VK4VP
