Richard,  

Both of my tests WERE from MIC-E units - one from a D700 and one from a
D7.
BOTH FAILED to activate the emergency software.   I haven't tried it from
a
TinyTrak, but I think the TT MIC-E should be the same as the Kenwoods' ...

My understanding is that the Emergency Beacon is a built in status used by
the MicE protocol encoding.

It will only work when using a MicE enabled system such as the Kenwood
D700,
D710 and D7g. You may be able to get it to work with the TinyTrack but I
have never tried it.
