That's it. The Zoning really only masks a problem as a home station will
not
see that VK6ABC is using up the local digipeaters free air time.

I'm not convinced zoning in this sense is the best way to run the RF
system.
It also has a negative impact on those stations who are in the intersect
of
2 zones.

I see controlled paths and beacon rates to be a better option.

Do you have a different approach to this type of zoning?

We did 1) and to some degree 2) however 1), 2) & 3) would not stop the
reduction of free air time for the digipeater when it was hearing traffic
like;

1:Fm VK7ABC To APRS Via TAS2* <UI pid=F0 Len=54 >[11:47:51]

1:Fm VK7DEF To APAGW Via VK7RAA,VK7RAC,WIDE2* <UI pid=F0 Len=19

(I'm not having a go at the packets. I've providing examples of different
types of pathing that could cause issues)
