You have a couple of options.

Firstly mode - connected or unproto

You have to be aware of how many people can connect to you at once in
connected or a one in at a time.

Connected takes car of the ax25 handshaking for you. (saves programming)

UI-Proto is fast but no ack (unless you want to program it in or use APRS
messaging)

You can use the mailbox in the TNC to take in message and scores. (human
or
linux box can raid it)

The prefered method is VHF 1200 baud. It simply works. And there is digis
around.

I use PERL, PHP, CGI and MySQL for the head station. Remore stations can
use
what ever they like.

My setup takes scores, messages and admin functions.

I need to work on the ability to be able to query the database remotely.

TCP/IP over radio is just too much payload for outcome.
