Hi Chris & the Grp...

You have the luxury that you actually have up to 5 beacons you can utilize
with this unit LT1-4 and the standard beacon! You could say use LT1 & LT2
for the position data (one addressed without & one with say Wide3-3) LT3
for
a bulletin maybe suggesting local path usage LT4 with a status text
informing what the digi supports and frequency etc. or if you fill the
LT1-4
with whatever you decide then you can use the standard beacon for status
or
what ever! But this beacon won't be time specific as the LT ones are!

Also make good use of the Uiflood & Uitrace feature and the Dup
suppression!

You may want to consider the NEWn-n routine as well (check out Bob's
website
for further details WB4APR) although traffic levels may not be an issue
for
this but its better to think of the bigger picture!

I can provide you with some examples config files that I use here
(KPC-9612
v8.2) so if you want more info email me on clareandscott at bigpond.com I'll
be
happy to share this information...

Subject: [OZAPRS] Any suggestions for using Kantronics KPC3+ as APRS digi?

Hi All,

I'm about to put a Kantronics KPC3+ into service as an APRS digipeater (in
the "WIDE" role, approx 200km south of Perth), and thought I would just
drop
a quick email to see if anyone has any suggestions or hints on clever ways
to configure it.

For example, ways of using the "TELEMTRY" function, useful strings to
configure in the 4 LT strings, etc.

If everything goes well, it will be installed by the end of next week.

Regards,

Chris
