Gday,

New digipeater licensed.

The Colac digi has been licensed by the ACMA as a permanent repeater and
the
digipeater's call sign has been changed to VK3ROW-1. Thanks to Amateur
Radio
Victoria and the Geelong amateur radio club for their assistance in making
this happen.

The Frequency Change Project Stage two.

Planning is underway to move the greater Melbourne and Geelong APRS
service
to 145.175Mhz between the 27th of December and the 29th of December.

The digipeaters VK3RMD-1 & VK3CV-1, IGates VK3SB-1 & VK3DXD, & HF Gate
VK3MY-4 will be affected. All APRS stations that operate South of the
Great
Dividing Range (below 37.24.00S ) and East of Ballan (37.35.60S
144.14.14E),
and use these digipeaters will be required to change frequency during the
dates mentioned.

A temporary TX IGate will be installed to service all areas remaining on
144.900Mhz.

APRS on UHF

The UHF APRS system offers a number of APRS applications including a DX
Cluster, Store & Forward messaging and an Info Kiosk. If you are in the
Greater Melbourne area and are unable to receive VHF APRS or want to see
more on your map give UHF APRS a try on 439.100Mhz (1200 baud). Currently
2
digipeaters and 1 IGate operate on UHF APRS and planning is under way to
install a third UHF digipeater.

Cheers

Richard

VK3JFK
