[OZAPRS] Ozaprs Digest, Vol 5, Issue 7

Ive seen this sot of thing happening before. This seems pretty severe
Andrew. What I have noticed with this sort of thing is usually it boils
down to a badly aligned TNC (usually a Ui-Digi firmware is running) .
TNCs running in native or Kiss mode usually do a good CRC check and
reject the packets but I am not convinced that this is allways the case
with Ui-Digis as Ive seen them actaully rearrange a packet and digi it
on completely messed up as you have observed Andrew.

The problem lies usually in the demodulator area of the TNC .. Just make
sure its not your end by sampling the same packets off air using
separate radios and TNCs to see if you get the same results.

Try applying some TRACEn-n paths to see if you can determine exactly
where abouts its being mangled..

I also suspect that Ui-Digis have a hard time with buffer memory and at
times overflow if there is heavy (very heavy) traffic.. Check out the
traffic levels at the times if you can.. I dont know what mobile timing
and paths you run up in VK4 but one wonders.

Last week we had a VK4 traveller in the area with posits at times every
20-30 seconds with odd paths network wide. He created a bit of traffic..
