Hi Neil,

Recently there was a group in Melbourne that did this. The organiser
was Phillip philpawlowski at optusnet.com.au and there is some info at
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~philpawlowski/index.htm

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Davidt, VK3UR

Subject: [OZAPRS] High altitude ballooning in Oz

Hi folks,

Does anyone know of a person or group that has flown or tried to fly
an "amateur radio high altitude balloon" here in Australia? If you
aren't familiar with it, the idea is to send a weather balloon into
"near space", altitudes as high as 100,000 feet (30ish KM) with a
small payload (perhaps a couple of KG) using APRS to track the
flight. There is quite a lot of activity in the US (see
www.arhab.org or http://www.universetoday.com/am/publish/
satellites_budget.html?1912006).

I'm quite interested in doing this, but I'd like to leverage any
experience others in Australia may already have.

Thanks,
Neil Justusson
