[OZAPRS] APRS and the space station

David,

My $0.02 worth

Doppler is a big issue. I ended up getting a linux box to tune the d700
via
the serial port.

This gave me some 12 packets or so as opposed to say 3 or 4 from a non -
tuned set up.

Bit hard from a car tho ;-)

I am not sure about the schedule so to speak, I used to watch the aprs
stream to see if the "bird" was active or not.

I think from memory I used any normal relay and "sgate" on then end.

I have been looking for a reason to re-initiate my sat ground station here
with doppler tracking.

Do you have a laptop or PDA you can predict the passes ?

I hit the ISS once just driving around on 145.800 MHz (down) 145.990 MHz
(up)

Sound like a reasonable venture !

Cheers

Subject: [OZAPRS] APRS and the space station

Gentlemen,
In a week or so time I will be driving from Brisbane to Sydney via the New
England Highway for up to a fortnights holiday in and around Sydney.

I have installed a Kenwood TM-D700 in the car. As I will loose repeaters
upon leaving Brisbane and I don't think I will see another one until just
north of Sydney I was going to try and use the repeater on the Space
Station.

Is there a published schedule as to when the RS0ISS-3 repeater is
operational?
I haven't heard anything from it yesterday (Friday) or today.

What is the preferred "packet path" to use.

On Wednesday and Thursday I attempted to use ARISS,SGATE,WIDE. I could
hear
the Space station at good signal strength but it could not hear me.

I have set the radio up to try ARISS,SGATE,WIDE but haven't heard the
station since.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

David
