Hi all,

Just to let you know that on the 9th May or the next available day
(weather depending) there will be a record attempt on the South African
Hot Air Balloon altitude record.

An APRS beacon (Call ZS0HOT) will be attached to the balloon and it will
send APRS to the ground station which will then send that info to a
special set up website (URL to be announced) for all to see.

The height record will be set when the balloon reaches 30,000 feet
(10,000m)ASL. For stations based in South Africa the APRS beacon should
be heard over a very wide area at its highest point. Frequency of use is
144.800mhz (the official SA APRS frequency).

Look out for the next APRS BULL where info on the software and maps will
be sent.

Any questions contact me via info below.
