Noel .. What operating system are you running?? Ive had this Digi running
with Win98SE on 2 machines..

Have you emailed George?? He would be most interested in any problems.. I
have only ever had problems trying to save
the symbol (APRS icon) character but after that gets sorted it seems to
run
fine.. In the help section HTML file you will find a mailto link to
Georges
email address at the bottom of the page .. There is also the odd
discussion
on the AGW Yahoo group (which doesnt get many postings) .. George also
uses
that as a help forum and software update forum..

The configuration is a bit odd (and Ive told George what I thought) in
that
setting up the cross port digi is entirely separate to (and can be
confusing) the single port section.. If you want to setup a Alias of NOEL
for example to port out on ALL ports then you have to set it up as an
Alias
on each port as well as a cross port Alias for each port.. It is however
very flexible.. Thats what George is trying to maintain throughout the
development..

As far as a INI file goes.. Yes it would be nice.. I suspect hes storing
stuff in the registry somewhwhere.. This is not uncommon.. Ive seen it
before with other similar small utility programes..

>was trying to set up the paths etc I couldnt get the greyed out "Apply"
to

Ok .. Yep the APPLY button seems totally useless so far .. Agreed.. Ive
found it saves the config anyway if I use the OK button..
In the cross port digi you have to select the ports (with the tick boxeson
the left hand side) that you want to cross port to and then it seems to
enable the cross port Alias .. Not the easiest to get a grip on Ive found
but it seems to work.. Just getting this far with George and the digi
wasnt
easy and took hours and hours of testing and emailing..

Its good to get someone elses view on it.. Tell George what you think and
where your confused.. Ive been using it from its early days so it can be a
trap being too familiar with it.. I must adimt I dont think in Greek.. Or
maybee I just dont see it from a programmers perspective..

Tony,

I had a play with the AGW uidigi recently, as I thought it offered more
versitility than my usual system. Here I usually have 5 ports, and they
run
via AGW pe and the digi part is run by Ui-View32. This setup has run
24/7,
more or less the same, for years.

You outlined well the possibilities of the AGW uidigi in your posting.
But
I had problems with setting up the thing - when I was trying to set up the
paths etc I couldnt get the greyed out "Apply" to come clear and work, so
couldnt properly save the settings. If I tried a second time, then the
thing would digi out twice. Every time I tried to set up a port it would
come up as a default panel, and I would configure it, couldnt Apply, but
the
settings accumulated so I digi'd three, then four times etc. Had to
uninstall/reinstall to get back to the start, but still no better off.

Can you guide me - I must be missing something. There does not seem to be
an ini file with the setups recorded.

Noel, ZL3GR.
