Hi Andrew and Graham

Here there is a noticeable difference in signal strength like this
afternoon
I was copying VK5EX-11 mobile out in the never never south west of Darwin
around 2850Kms from here the signal sounded okay whilst weak was only
marginally stronger then the two others that I could not copy. Would be
very
interested to know what modem/TNC that he is using I know that he has an
IC-706 but not aware of the other equipment

I have noticed that there is at least one possibly two stations that have
strange sounding beacons that to me do not sound correct these I certainly
can not decode, I am wondering if they are perhaps using TT3s that I am
told
sound different or they are getting RF back into their equipment and not
aware of it.

I do copy ZLs here quite regularly and often see looking in Findu that my
beacon has gone through a ZL station to get there and whilst not so
recently
I have copied a few DX stations here and have had a couple of emails to
inform me that I have been copied direct into USA.

Had a real good antenna farm a few years back actually 3 towers at one
stage
now where I am living I am down to a hustler multiband vertical mounted on
the ground but with some 200m plus cut radials out just under the lawn
that
helps to improve its performance but nothing like the large 8 element log
that I had previously before my move here.
