Boy what alot of talk about SSID's .. This question was raised a couple of
weeks back and I thought I commented to this effect..

Recomended SSID usage has been published for some time on the VK5 APRS web
page just over half way down the page.
http://vk5.aprs.net.au/

I suspect its also somewhere else on other VK APRS web pages as well..

This was something developed from discussions last year with both Richard
3JFK and Bob B himself.

It seems that -8 is sometimes used as a secondary VHF/UHF mobile as well.
-6 is something that seems to have developed into a Satellite operations
SSID
-11 and -12 seem to have developed into a HF standard as well.

Some of the SSIDs are not listed and are free to configure as you would
see
fit. Sombody is allways going to
come up with a setup that does not fit into the standard listing.

APRS is well past the point of using the SSIDs as symbol generators.
Hopefully not to many if any stations are sending raw NMEA strings any
more.
