[OZAPRS] Central Highlands APRS Network operational

I am pleased to announce that the Central Highlands APRS Network Gateway
is
now fully operational.  The network has been designed to be fully
compatible
with the existing vk2,vk3 and vk5 networks.

The design of the network has been undertaken by Tony, VK5AH.  The Central
Highlands Amateur Radio Club (CHARC) would like to place on record our
grateful thanks to Tony for his hard work and support in getting the
network
operational.

Details are as follows:

GATEWAY
Callsign: VK4CLM-4
Location: Tieri Central Qld.
Software: DIGI_NED
Freq: 10147.6 mhz
Hardware: P75 computer 32mb RAM, 3Gb Hard Drive
VHF : AEA PK88 TNC (running under KISS mode) , Motorola GM300, 5 el yagi
ant.
HF: AEA PK232 TNC (running under KISS mode), CODAN 8525, OffCentreFed
Dipole
ant.

DIGIs
Callsign; VK4RHR-1
Location: Hodgson Range
Freq: 144.725mhz
Hardware: Paccomm Tiny 2 TNC running UI-DIGI v1.9b3 firmware, Phillips
FM828, Co-linear Vertical ant.

Future enhancements (planned or in progress)  include:

- upgrading of VK4RBD at Blackdown Tablelands to UI-DIGI firmware -  this
is
expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

- installation of a new digi at Blue Mountain (VK4RBM)  -  about 20km W of
Sarina.

- eventual move of all digis to national APRS freq of 145.175mhz .

- installation of IGATE facility if and when broadband connection and
generous sponsor becomes available!

The CHARC looks forward to welcoming visitors to Central Highlands area
and
we hope to see you making use of this new facility.
