Well...

Seems like I need to visit Melbourne, Fl and have a look at that
system... For one of my consulting projects I am about to but a number
of satellite modem based trackers from 80-20.com based in Washington
DC... I am still working on my client to send me to DC to spend some
time investigating the solution :-)

Anyway, Rich Parry commented about the WAPaprs... I have been developing
another solution. A company in the EU has developed a GPRS tracking unit
- uses SMS on cellphone or the GPRS data service, with the pricing of
A$0.001 cents per position report... I have a photo of the unit on

What I have done is written a small server for this to turn the data
into APRS data so that I can then send the data through to my OziAPRS
application (APRS for OziExplorer). The OziExplorer which my software
plugs into has some of the most extensive mapping support of any product
that I know of in the consumer segment of the market... [The plug-in is
free at the moment for non-commercial users...]

The other thing that I am almost finished developing is what I am
calling the TeamTrack... Think GARMIN RINO for vehicles based on GPRS..
