[OZAPRS] New APRS toy...

HamHUD is cute... People should look at it if they need a screen with
words... It has not actually replicated all the D7 functionality. The
part that I was interested in was something that was not included - the
ability to upload positions to a GPS.

It is also designed to require the TNC, and actually TRANSMIT. The thing
that I have done is built a small embedded reciever. I had no need of
the LCD in my application, and the LCD would be a real issue for me
since size is a problem in terms of mounting.

Darryl,

Are you aware of this project ?

http://www.hamhud.net

Steve Bragg KA9MVA has deved an APRS appliance which replicates all of
the
D7 functionality and more. You can download the schematic/pcb and code
to
build your own. The major disadvantage is the current version
requires
a KPC3 tnc. You can easily replace the KPC3 with something else (your
PIC
16F84 for example), I have deved my own in an AVR which works
flawlessly.

This may shorten your dev time considerably.

Cheers
