Guys,<br><br>Thanks to all that offered help on this, the problem turned out to be a blown 1.8A surface mount fuse F902.<br><br>I didn't have any surface mount fuses so I replaced it with a 1.5A pico fuse, all is AOK now. I'll be sure to disconnect power<br>

Ian .. Almost certainly an antenna issue .. Theres a shutdown circuit on the<br>
D700 if it transmits into a bad load.. Ive seen it.. Check the connectors<br>
and the antenna. Thats the Power off problem ..<br>

Now the Wont power on any more problem.. Have a look on the Yahoo group for<br>
D700 and you will find its a really bad idea to unplug the cable to the head<br>
when the power is still on the radio. That includes when its powered off. If<br>
you want to connect and disconnect the cable to the head then remove the<br>
power from the radio completely. You have almost certainly blown a fuse or 2<br>
in the Radio.. Inside the radio are some Zero Ohm links that amount to<br>
fuses. These are on the power feed for the remote head. They are Surface<br>
mount inside the radio. The good news is that when you replace these the<br>
radio will work again.<br>

If you repeatedly remove and plug in the remote head cable with the power<br>
still on the radio then its only a matter of time before you blow those<br>
fuses. The number of operators that have managed this is incredible. It must<br>
be the biggest design flaw on the D700.<br>
