[OZAPRS] Setting up a wx station at a local rc airfield

You can also hold multiple callsigns each with a different location.
Take out a second callsign and away you go - you will be stuck with the
$54/year however that way

In operating an amateur station at a location not mentioned on your
license, the amateur LCD says you're good for up to 4 months at any one
location.

Moving the radio from one side of the shed to the other a couple of
times a year might do the trick? :)

      Hi Max,

Use of private callsigns for digis at remote sites that are not
the licensees address is not uncommon, and unattended operation of
digital stations is permitted. Strictly speaking it's not the
right way to go but it's done and nobody bats an eyelid. Chances
are very high that using your own callsign-SSID would never be
challenged.

I doubt the ACMA would go looking for you, if my experience is
anything to go by. I reported an unlicenced tx operating on a
local ABC FM frequency and because the location was a few hundred
metres outside the published coverage area for the ABC station the
ACMA wasn't interested in investigating.

A thought ....  Is the RC financial enough to take out an
amateur       licence so the wx station can be operated under the club's
own       callsign?

Hi folks

Got a quick query about wx stations at locations         away from home.

What would be the best way to go about setting up         a wx station
for a local rc club of mine in terms of licensing?

I’m assuming because it’s a broadcast only         contraption a
repeater license is not applicable so probably         best/easiest to
chuck it under my ham call but still wanted to         pick the hive
mind incase there’s a better solution 🙂

Can’t use cellular data as there is a nearby radio         telescope
that’s centered  on 850 MHz (bw of +/- 30? MHz if         memory serves
me correctly) hence considering VHF APRS, there’s         even a
convenient APRS iGate not all that far away. (I will be         engaging
with the mob that runs the radio telescope too to be         sure
they’re ok with it)
