7 MHz/ 10 MHz well ....horses /courses

if there is a base 1000 km away 10 MHz will be far daytime superior.

Bases further away  mean lower ionospheric angles which means the whole 
path and frequency selection become less critical.  Well there is much 
more to it than that.

antenna efficiency on a car sort of goings according to wavelength 
cubed... so 10 MHz is usually alot better... lower noise on 10 MHz...

I will run some GRAFIX charts

is there a list of 7 amd 10 MHz IGATES around the country?
You might be better off for example with a 20m IGATE in NZ in the daytime.
