Hi Scott :-)
366km, a reasonable scatter path
If you have a good takeoff, you best bet is on 70cm, actually...
(438.025 91.5), it has the best clearance over the mountains.
If you have a nearby obstruction (cannot see at least 10 km to horizon)
2m is the go.
if you have a poor takeoff, (horizon < 1km , then 6m and lots of power
and a high antenna.
On 2m in a good location near Dubbo, (not top of mountain, just a
reasonable horizon, you should be able to hit 146.950 (91.5) about 50%
of the time on 2m with 50W and a gain vertical up to 350km. When
conditions are reasonable (IE not stormy, not raining, not super cold)
the fading period will be about 3 minutes on 2m, so if you dont hit it
at t=0, try at t=say 90sec .
about 50% of the time the packet repeater can see RCC-1 direct.
