I am testing 9k6 locally

Getting 100 % copy from ICOM 706 and TNC to THD72A

But I can seem to get it to gate Internet to RF

Have I missed something ?

I see p/VK coming in to me

Gerard, don't forget that Lary VK5LY (SK) was also on 40m as well as 30m (possibly 20m) and is a sadly missed station.

As 2IO would fade away 5LY would take over!

I'm ok to move over to 20m if worth it, otherwise I'll remain on 40m

I only transmit 25w on 40m and gate anything that I decode. Have to admit that I haven't looked at the RF ligs in a long time!

Thank you for all your feedback

We tracked a mate from Brisabane to MLB and he backed off to 50 W on 10.147 MHz

I was blown away how reliable it was

Melbourne to Brisbane – wow

I have an antenna coming and tinytrak3

Will advise departure date and call

Will do some prelim tests

The most recent list of HF IGates available is here on the Wayback Machine:

 <https://web.archive.org/web/20161029215543/http:/www.aprs.net.au/hf/hf-gateways/> https://web.archive.org/web/20161029215543/http://www.aprs.net.au/hf/hf-gateways/

It's 15 months out of date now but better than what is available on the official site:

 <http://www.aprs.net.au/hf/hf-gateways/> http://www.aprs.net.au/hf/hf-gateways/

Unfortunately the official site can't be updated because it no longer accepts logins. The site contains old (and misleading) content ever since the site was lost and restored from a backup.

Sorry guys - I can no longer keep it up-to-date.

Anyway, there are no 20m IGates operating currently. Mine ran from mid-2013 for a couple of years but now I just run 40m and 2m.

On 40m there is an IGate in Sydney and one in Hobart. All are welcome to try 40m APRS.

Cheers,

Gerard - VK2IO

7 MHz/ 10 MHz well ....horses /courses

if there is a base 1000 km away 10 MHz will be far daytime superior.

Bases further away mean lower ionospheric angles which means the whole path and frequency selection become less critical. Well there is much more to it than that.

antenna efficiency on a car sort of goings according to wavelength cubed... so 10 MHz is usually alot better... lower noise on 10 MHz...

I will run some GRAFIX charts

is there a list of 7 amd 10 MHz IGATES around the country?
You might be better off for example with a 20m IGATE in NZ in the daytime.

There's also 7. 048,600MHz (1600/1800Hz) if you want

Hello

I am planning to drive from Brisbane to Melbourne this December

I think 10.147 MHz will be the go
