Not sure what you are seeking/wanting software wise but Internode does have an extensive local file mirror available.

I generally do a quick check there first for a local source before heading OS for anything.
They use to be (and hopefully still are) approachable for their customers suggesting additions to it.

It's always been the same from that site. You'll find it speeds up, but still expect several hours. I've always assumed it was just throttled back. Mornings (UK) time does however seem better.
