[OZAPRS] Testing on 20 mx

Thanks Scott, I'm not sure if 30 or 40 meters is good for me because it seems well covered here in Sth East Australia. 14.103L is very quiet and I have a spare 3el beam and co-ax doing nothing. I don't think there are many brave souls trekking about inland WA at the moment, maybe in the future.
Cheers Phil

A few years ago I went through the process of deciding on what band would suit best for my HF gateway, initially 20m was the preferred option but I ended up settling on 40m. This was because I'm a lazy kind of guy, I've been meaning to upgrade my licence class for years but as usual I never get "round to it" so obviously I can't transmit on 30m (legally) but I wanted to have something on HF. Over the last 6 or so years it's had good use from VK2/3/5 & ZL. 40m is noisy and crowded on 7.036L (1800/1600Hz) whereas 20m is quite and not as crowded.
Just my 2 cents worth 😉

Thanks for that Gerard and Larry, I've moved it down to 14.103L to line up and see how that goes. I see to remember I was getting beacons there but it is interesting to experiment.

>Hi all, I'm testing a 20mx APRS gateway on 14.107L. My rational is that I can beam across WA from here in Sth East Australia to assist any travelers in the WA bush. I have a 3 element beam doing nothing and a rig. I chose 14.107L because it is relatively quiet, 14.109 is chockers with OLIVIA and any lower I get into beacons. If anyone in WA could test it out that would be good.
