[OZAPRS] experimenting with rural digipeater

I've been reading this

and I'm not really sure what values to put on house radio 
I'm right on the very edge of aprs civilisation
Packets from here go to at least two other repeaters before they reach
an iGate eg 2012-11-12 08:56:15 UTC:
VK2XSE-9>ST16Q8,VK2RGF-1,VK1RGI-1,WIDE2*,qAR,VK1KCM-5:`J^*mf:>/]"5,}=

does the home station go

"WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2"
"WIDE3-3"
"WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1"


in order to digipeat packets and not let them die out before reaching
an iGate?
