Just checked the log for my 30-meter HF receive system. These beacons
came in
overnight (Pacific Daylight Time):

2:Fm VP8DEU To APRS Via WIDE1-1,WIDE <UI pid=F0 Len=36 >[04:08:53]
/110832h/EYCE%z8Rs&9_M/V Polar Bound

  2:Fm VP8DEU To APRS Via WIDE1-1,WIDE <UI pid=F0 Len=36 >[04:10:58]
/111039h/EY7^%z:gs --M/V Polar Bound

  2:Fm VK3MY-4 To APRS <UI pid=F0 Len=50 >[06:33:30]
!3751.54SG14518.28E& / APRS 10Mhz Net Station (2)

  2:Fm VK3MY-4 To APRS Via GATE,WIDE <UI pid=F0 Len=73 >[06:33:33]
)30m-GATE!3751.54SG14518.28E& APRS HF To VHF Gateway On 10.147.60Mhz USB

Does VP8DEU (who is about 300 miles southwest of Hawaii) really expect home
fill-ins digis on buoys in the middle of the Pacific ocean? All this
path can
possibly do is lengthen the packet and reduce the probability of being
successfully received.

VK3MY's claim to be on "10.147.600 MHz USB" is meaningless unless qualified
with the audio tones his TNC is using. Not to mention that it needlessly
lengthens his beacon, reducing the probability of being successfully
received.
Further, if you can successfully copy this claim, you are already
on the
right frequency -- this information is redundant.

[The 10.147.60 MHz USB frequency IS correct --IF-- you are using standard
KAM/TNC2 audio tones of 1600/1800 Hz..]

See <http://wa8lmf.net/aprs/SSB_Frequencies.htm> for more details.
