[OZAPRS] APRS Registration - is it required?

G'day all on the list, 

I'm new to APRS and I'm picking up a new TM-D710A in the next day or so. It'll mainly be for APRS purposes. 

Do I have to register my callsign/s with APRS anywhere like we do with D-Star, or is it just a matter of setting up the appropriate callsign & suffix with an SSID, paths and off I go?

I've perused the VK APRS website but there's no mention of registering.
