[OZAPRS] Multiple connects to APRS Servers

Folks,

There has been a bit of discussion in the APRS-IS groups about the number of
duplicate packets and lost data in the APRS Internet streams at the moment,
and it has become evident that a lot of the problem is being caused by
clients establishing verified connections to multiple APRS servers at the
same time. In some cases (depending on the client software) this creates a
loop in the Internet stream, preventing data from flowing correctly around
the established APRS-IS servers, resulting in data not showing up at all at
sites like aprs.fi and findu.com.

If you are directly connecting to the APRS-IS, please ensure that you only
connect to ONE server at a time. If you define two servers, make sure that
they are defined as a "failover" set, meaning that the second connection is
only used if the first one fails.

Looking at first and second.aprs.net.au at the moment I can see a couple of
stations connected to both....

Regards,

Geoff VK2XJG
