David,
you should use 10.147,6 USB instead of 40m when you are out to Alice.
Some HF-Gates with DSP-TNC's in Perth and Darwin are listening for you.
Which will give you the advatage, that you dont need to calibrate ur mobile 
rig so exactly to qrg.
These DSp-TNCs will receive 800Hz span simultaneously.
