[OZAPRS] Overseas messaging question

Hi all.

I am pretty new to APRS & recently bought a VX-8R which I love.
I have some questions regarding sending & receiving messages to overseas stations, using just the VX-8.  I do also have UI-View running here too.

I have sent some messages using the VX-8 to stations in the UK, & these get on the internet fine & they receive these ok.  I am getting into the VK3SB igate in Melb, from Shepparton.
However, I do not receive any of the replies back from the UK on my radio, only on UI-View.
Can someone please tell me why this is ?  Does the VK3SB igate transmit on RF at all ?
