[OZAPRS] 20 m freq

Ian,

I'll make this fairly general.

First, the BBS is reasonably open, meaning there are very few
restrictions. The one likely to affect new users is that although you
can create an account, sending mail is initially restricted (I got
caught out with an unknown new user making mischief some years ago).
However, if I know you are going to need the service I can create a new
account and manually massage it to overcome the restriction.

Since HF is affected by noise, and the data rate is only 0k3,
downloading large bulletins (WIA News, at around 30kb, e.g) might prove
frustrating, or even impossible, particularly if propagation is
marginal. Having said that, HF at 0k3 is capable of returning good results.

The use of a mail application that can handle compressed forwarding will
reduce the amount of data to be shifted, by as much as half. For Windows
one option is Winpack, and for DOS there's TSTHOST or TPK.

There is also a port on 40m on about 7035.8 (2025/2225 Hz tones). I say
about because I shifted the crystal as high as it would go a while back
to give the PSK guys working Europe a clear go. From memory I moved
about 800Hz higher, but don't rely on my memory.
