[OZAPRS] 40m good but wierd

Philip,

VK2TV (Kempsey), VK2AAB (Sydney) and VK2SLM (Casino) have been
forwarding on 40m for up to 8 years. We used to be marginally lower in
frequency than we are now. See two paragraphs down. The frequency had
originally been occupied for many years by ex-OTC personnel and they
invited me there. They have since moved elsewhere.

My dial reading is 7035.33 (USB) which places my tones at 7037.355 and
7037.555 (calculated, not measured). I use a Baycom USCC> 4 card on 40m
and it uses the 2025/2225 tone pair. The radio is the TS430 (for now)
and is, in combination with the half-power plug being fitted and not
being driven to the hilt (no ALC), producing 40W.

You may recall a previous posting when I mentioned I had moved the
crystal in the Tracker Lynx (the radio that just died!) as high in
frequency as it would go to move away from vk4 stations trying to work
weak PSK signals from Europe in the Region 1 narrow-band segment of the
band. I also offered to move closer to 7.040 if such a move was deemed
necessary. Such a move would indeed be easier right now with the TS430
in service on 40m.

I need the feelings of those operating 40m aprs and, I need to consult
my forwarding partners and users, if a move is considered in the
interest of aprs operations.
