Hello all,
I've been using the open source "soundmodem" software
(www.baycom.org/~tom/ham/soundmodem/) under Linux for 1200bps/VHF APRS
for years. I've never had a problem with it on VHF at all. In fact, I've
never even used a real TNC.
However, I have never successfully decoded a packet on 300bps HF. I can
audibly hear data on 10.147.6 USB, and I have the soundmodem software
set up for AFSK, 300bps, tone 1 = 1600Hz, tone 2 = 1800Hz. Everything
looks good on the in-built scope and spectrum displays.
If anyone else out there is using soundmodem under a Unix-ish OS, and
has actually been able to use it on HF, I could really do with some
pointers!
If someone (who has a working system) could show me what they have
configured in /etc/ax25/soundmodem.conf it would help a lot.
Thanks very much in advance,
Steve (VK2ZSZ).
