Hi Geoff
I looked at your -5 it hasn't been connected for many months
last heard 25/03/08 so how come it is showing up ??
Ok if VK2ZEN-5 is aprd v 2.2.5-13 he needs to upgrade to 2.2.5-15 now may
pay to drop him a line and let him know etc

aprs.fi Hessu, OH7LZB T2FINLAND connects to himself and is javaprssvr and
uses pasers he has produced himself.

The question here is HOW COME VK2XJG-5 has appeared and from where ???

VK2XJG-5 is also javAPRSSrvr, and its configured not to beacon anything, as
it is a STANDBY I-Gate for Sydney and should not actually even be acting as
an Rx Only gate at the moment.

Its' javAPRSSrvr all the way to and including the APRS-IS CORE, so if this
is an issue introduced by aprsd it could be coming from VK2ZEN-5 (which IS
aprsd)

The only thing I'm not sure about is where aprs.fi connects into APRS-IS -
potentially aprsd at that end as well.

Hi Gerard

Are you using Mic-E beacons if yes can you turn it off.

When this happens and there is trashed Mic-E there appears to be NO DUPE

checking there has been a fair amount of this around the world

and the only fix is to track it down.

http://f5vag.eu/php/bad_mice_stats.php

The 500kms Rate is what you see when Mic-E beacons get trashed by

1/ a version of aprsd trashing Mic-e find the Igate that posted it see what
they are running

I couldn't find any data on findu for VK2XJG-5

http://www.jfindu.net/lastreports.aspx?call=VK2XJG-5

Nor could I find any current data on aprs.fi for VK2XJG-5

http://aprs.fi/?call=vk2xjg-5&mt=m&z=11&timerange=86400

I see that VK2XJG is a javaparssvr so that counts out aprsd

what is vk2xjg-5 ???

2/ RF getting into your GPS add clamp on ferrit's to GPS lead

3/ Bad earthing check your earthing

4/ Reset your D710

Which part in particular ???

I'll break it down a little - what you are seeing is the data from the

APRS-IS (Internet) as seen at aprs.fi, so there are a few additional fields

that you don't see on RF.

j/]"4!}146.775MHzKenwood TM-D710= [Rate limited (< 5 sec)]

These two frames are the same packet - one was received through VK2ZEN-5

IGate via VK2RAG-1 digi, and the other was received via VK2XJG-5 IGate via

VK2RAG-1. (The second should not have popped up as my IGate should be

OFFLINE - I'll need to check that). The qAR part is a header used only on

the Internet stream.

I believe the "Rate limited" message is a function of aprs.fi, as it has

received exactly the same message from you within 5 seconds and applied a

throttling to your message. The "Location changes too fast" I can't

explain. It could be that your GPS is providing invalid data or your packet

is corrupted somehow giving an apparent shift in location that is

unrealistic - or your car is something that the Stig should take around the

track on Top Gear :-)

Regards,

Geoff VK2XJG

Found this on APRS.fi after a trip to the Central Coast.

Would appreciate an explanation if possible.
