Ray,
	You may well be right, as there are no digi's on HF, so what would
be the need for WIDE.

I know the Australian documentation still says GATE, WIDE but given that 
WIDE has been deprecated I would question its use. I've read elsewhere 
of using just GATE but I can't recall where.

I only use GATE on 30m and I think that is sufficient given that mobiles 
on HF only need a single hop to get to a gateway.

If my thinking is flawed I'll be happy to take advice :-)
